General Dental Services

Our general dental services focus on maintaining your oral health through preventive care, routine treatments, and essential dental procedures. These foundational services help prevent dental problems and address common issues before they become more serious.

Dental Cleanings

Since plaque harbors the bacteria responsible for cavities and gum disease, its removal is essential for maintaining good oral health. Our office encourages patients to come in twice a year for professional dental cleanings. In this way, our hygienist can remove any accumulated plaque, tartar, and food debris from between the teeth and gums.

Routine dental cleanings offer the following benefits:

  • Keep your smile feeling fresh and clean
  • Prevent cavities and protect your periodontal health
  • Help to reverse gingivitis and restore gum health
  • Support your overall health and well-being

What to expect when getting your teeth cleaned

Dental cleanings are performed using either hand instruments or with an ultrasonic scaler. While hand instruments are designed to scrape harmful deposits off the surface of the teeth, an ultrasonic scaler uses a steady stream of water coupled with varying vibration frequencies to clean them. For best results, our hygienist may use both methods in combination with each other.

Because a routine dental cleaning involves the superficial areas around the neck of the tooth and stays above or just slightly below the gumline, it's typically a pain-free and simple procedure. For those patients with sensitive teeth and other dental issues that may cause discomfort during a cleaning, topical numbing gels or local anesthesia are used.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to restore teeth that have been damaged by decay back to their normal function and shape. When a dentist gives you a filling, they first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, and then fill the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.

We offer several types of filling materials including composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), amalgam (silver fillings), and porcelain. Composite fillings are popular because they can be closely matched to the color of your existing teeth and are bonded directly to the tooth structure, providing additional support.

The procedure typically takes about an hour and can be completed in a single visit. Local anesthesia is used to ensure your comfort during the procedure. After the filling is placed, you may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures for a few days, but this should resolve on its own.

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography uses electronic sensors instead of traditional X-ray film to capture dental images. This advanced technology provides several advantages over conventional X-rays, including reduced radiation exposure, immediate image viewing, and enhanced diagnostic capabilities.

Digital X-rays allow us to detect problems that may not be visible during a regular dental exam, such as decay between teeth, bone loss, abscesses, and tumors. The images can be enlarged and enhanced on a computer screen, making it easier to identify potential issues and explain treatment options to patients.

The process is quick and comfortable, with the digital sensor placed in your mouth to capture the image. Results are available immediately, allowing for faster diagnosis and treatment planning. Digital radiography is an essential tool in modern dentistry for comprehensive oral health assessment.

Extractions

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. While we always strive to preserve natural teeth, extractions may be necessary when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, or causing problems that cannot be resolved through other treatments.

Common reasons for extractions include severe tooth decay, advanced periodontal disease, impacted wisdom teeth, and teeth that are broken beyond repair. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia to ensure your comfort, and we may also offer sedation options for patients who experience dental anxiety.

After the extraction, we provide detailed aftercare instructions to promote proper healing and prevent complications. Most patients recover fully within a few days to a week, and we can discuss replacement options such as dental implants, bridges, or dentures to restore your smile and maintain proper oral function.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer screening is a preventive measure that helps detect early signs of oral cancer and precancerous conditions. During your regular dental checkup, we perform a thorough examination of your mouth, throat, and neck to identify any unusual changes or abnormalities.

Early detection is crucial for successful treatment of oral cancer. The screening includes visual examination of your lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, and the roof and floor of your mouth. We also check for lumps or other abnormalities in your neck and jaw area.

Risk factors for oral cancer include tobacco use, excessive alcohol consumption, sun exposure (for lip cancer), and certain viral infections. Regular screenings are especially important for patients with these risk factors, but we recommend them for all patients as part of comprehensive oral health care.

Oral Exams

Comprehensive oral examinations are the foundation of preventive dental care. During these exams, we thoroughly evaluate your overall oral health, including your teeth, gums, jaw, and surrounding tissues. Regular exams help us identify potential problems early and develop personalized treatment plans.

The examination includes checking for cavities, gum disease, bite problems, and signs of oral cancer. We also assess the condition of existing dental work and evaluate your risk for future dental problems. Digital X-rays may be taken to provide a complete picture of your oral health.

We recommend oral exams every six months for most patients, though some may need more frequent visits based on their individual risk factors and oral health status. These regular checkups are essential for maintaining optimal oral health and preventing serious dental problems.

Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry focuses on the oral health of children from infancy through adolescence. We provide gentle, compassionate care designed specifically for young patients, helping them develop positive attitudes toward dental care that will last a lifetime.

Our pediatric services include regular checkups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and cavity fillings. We also provide guidance on proper oral hygiene habits, nutrition, and injury prevention. We use child-friendly language and techniques to make dental visits comfortable and even enjoyable for children.

Early dental care is crucial for establishing good oral health habits and preventing future problems. We recommend that children have their first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth appearing. Regular visits help ensure healthy development of teeth and gums.

Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal treatment addresses gum disease, a serious infection that damages the soft tissue and bone supporting your teeth. Left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss and has been linked to other health problems including heart disease and diabetes.

Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the disease. For early-stage gum disease (gingivitis), professional cleaning and improved oral hygiene may be sufficient. More advanced cases may require scaling and root planing, which removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline and smooths the root surfaces.

In severe cases, surgical treatments may be necessary to restore damaged tissue and bone. We also provide ongoing maintenance care to prevent the recurrence of gum disease. Early detection and treatment are key to successful management of periodontal disease.

Preventative Program

Our comprehensive preventative program is designed to help you maintain optimal oral health and prevent dental problems before they develop. This personalized approach combines regular checkups, professional cleanings, and education to keep your smile healthy for life.

The program includes regular dental exams, professional cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants for children. We also provide personalized oral hygiene instruction and nutritional counseling to help you maintain good habits at home. Regular monitoring allows us to identify potential problems early and address them before they become serious.

We work with each patient to develop a customized prevention plan based on their individual risk factors, oral health history, and lifestyle. This proactive approach helps prevent cavities, gum disease, and other dental problems while saving you time and money in the long run.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is a procedure used to save a tooth that has become infected or severely decayed. Despite its reputation, modern root canal therapy is typically no more uncomfortable than getting a filling, and it's often the best way to preserve your natural tooth.

During the procedure, we remove the infected or damaged pulp from inside the tooth, clean and disinfect the root canals, and then fill and seal them to prevent future infection. The tooth is then restored with a crown or filling to protect it and restore its function.

Root canals are necessary when the pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth) becomes inflamed or infected due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, or trauma. The procedure relieves pain, eliminates infection, and allows you to keep your natural tooth instead of having it extracted.

Cosmetic Dental Services

Our cosmetic dental services are designed to enhance the appearance of your smile while maintaining optimal oral health. From subtle improvements to dramatic transformations, we offer a range of treatments to help you achieve the beautiful, confident smile you deserve.

Ceramic Crowns

Thanks to advances in dental ceramics, dental crowns today don't have to be fabricated from metal or have a metal substrate. We can now fabricate all-ceramic crowns that offer the benefits of being metal-free, durable, long-lasting, and as beautiful as a natural tooth.

Ceramic crowns are ideal for front teeth and visible areas where aesthetics are important. They can be color-matched to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, providing a restoration that looks and feels like your own tooth. The material is also biocompatible, making it an excellent choice for patients with metal sensitivities.

The procedure typically requires two visits: the first to prepare the tooth and take impressions, and the second to place the permanent crown. Temporary crowns are provided between visits to protect the prepared tooth and maintain your smile's appearance.

Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a modern alternative to traditional metal braces that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. These custom-made aligners are virtually invisible and can be removed for eating, drinking, and oral hygiene, making them a popular choice for adults and teens.

The treatment process begins with a digital scan of your teeth, which is used to create a 3D treatment plan showing how your teeth will move from their current position to their final, straightened position. You'll receive a series of aligners, each worn for about two weeks before moving to the next set.

Invisalign® can address a wide range of orthodontic issues including crowded teeth, gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. The treatment time varies depending on the complexity of your case, but most patients complete their treatment in 12-18 months. Regular checkups ensure your treatment is progressing as planned.

Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile and remove stains caused by food, drinks, smoking, and aging. We offer both in-office and take-home whitening options to meet your needs and preferences.

In-office whitening provides immediate results in a single visit, using a high-concentration whitening gel activated by a special light. This method can lighten your teeth by several shades in just one appointment. Take-home whitening involves custom-fitted trays and professional-strength whitening gel that you use at home over a period of days or weeks.

Professional whitening is safer and more effective than over-the-counter products because it's supervised by dental professionals and uses higher-quality materials. We can also address specific staining issues and provide personalized recommendations for maintaining your results.

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored material designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They can be used to correct a wide range of cosmetic issues including discolored, chipped, misaligned, or worn teeth.

Veneers are typically made from porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain veneers are more durable and stain-resistant, while composite veneers can be completed in a single visit and are more affordable. Both types can be color-matched to your natural teeth or made slightly whiter for a brighter smile.

The procedure involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front of the tooth to make room for the veneer. Impressions are taken to create your custom veneers, which are then bonded to your teeth. With proper care, veneers can last 10-15 years or longer.

Emergency Dental Services

Dental emergencies can happen at any time and require immediate attention to relieve pain and prevent further damage. We provide prompt emergency dental care to address urgent dental problems and get you back to comfort quickly.

Emergency Treatment

Dental emergencies can be painful and frightening, but we're here to help when you need immediate care. We provide prompt emergency treatment for a wide range of urgent dental problems including severe toothaches, broken or knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns, and other dental injuries.

Common dental emergencies include severe tooth pain, broken or chipped teeth, knocked-out teeth, lost or broken fillings, abscesses, and soft tissue injuries. If you experience a dental emergency, contact us immediately. For knocked-out teeth, time is critical - the sooner you can get to our office, the better the chances of saving the tooth.

We understand that dental emergencies don't always happen during regular office hours. We make every effort to accommodate emergency patients and provide same-day treatment when possible. Our goal is to relieve your pain quickly and prevent further damage to your oral health.

Teeth Replacement Options

When teeth are missing or severely damaged, replacement options can restore your smile's function and appearance. We offer a variety of tooth replacement solutions to meet your individual needs and preferences.

All-on-4® Dental Implants

The All-on-4 treatment concept offers an implant-based solution to patients who have lost all of their upper and/or lower teeth. This remarkable method of care helps patients quickly rebuild complete and beautiful smiles. With All-on-4, your new, and complete set of implant-supported replacement teeth feel secure, stable, and much like your very own.

This innovative technique uses just four strategically placed dental implants to support a full arch of replacement teeth. The implants are positioned at angles that maximize contact with available bone, often eliminating the need for bone grafting procedures. This makes All-on-4 an excellent option for patients who have experienced significant bone loss.

The procedure typically involves placing the implants and attaching a temporary set of teeth on the same day. After a healing period of several months, during which the implants integrate with the bone, you'll receive your permanent, custom-made replacement teeth. All-on-4 provides a fixed, permanent solution that allows you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

All-on-6® Dental Implants

A high-tech alternative to traditional dentures, the ALL-On-6 technique creates a comfortable and stable full set of upper and/or lower teeth using six strategically placed specialized dental implants. While conventional removable dentures can effectively replace a full complement of lost or missing teeth, ALL-On-6 dental implants provide a fixed and permanent method of reestablishing a complete set of teeth. This restores patients with a sense of having their own teeth and offers an improved quality of life as they can once again eat and speak with confidence. With ALL-On-6 dental implants the need for messy denture adhesives or having to take one's dentures out to clean and sanitize them is eliminated. The replacement teeth are cared for in very much the same way as a set of natural teeth.

All-On-6 dental implants offer a less invasive and quicker way to restore a full upper or lower set of teeth than treatment with conventional dental implants. Requiring just six implants per jaw for a complete set of functional teeth, All-On-6 treatment may reduce the need for preliminary bone grafting surgery. Utilizing the All-On-6 method, temporary teeth can often be placed right away with a permanent set to follow within just a few months after the implants become fully integrated with the surrounding bone.

This treatment is particularly beneficial for patients who want the stability and function of dental implants but may not have sufficient bone density for traditional implant placement. The six-implant design provides excellent support and distribution of chewing forces, making it suitable for patients who want to enjoy a full range of foods without restrictions.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge offers a highly effective, stable, and fixed solution for replacing missing teeth. Unlike removable partial dentures that clasp on to the remaining teeth, a dental bridge relies on the support of crowns attached to teeth adjacent to the edentulous area (space without teeth) or strategically placed dental implants. In addition to restoring the look, feel, and function of a natural smile, they also prevent the teeth from shifting, thereby protecting the alignment of a patient's bite.

Bridges can replace one or more missing teeth and are custom-made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth. The procedure typically requires two or three visits: the first to prepare the supporting teeth and take impressions, and subsequent visits to place the permanent bridge. Temporary bridges are provided between visits to protect the prepared teeth and maintain your smile's appearance.

There are several types of bridges available, including traditional bridges, cantilever bridges, and Maryland bridges. The type recommended depends on the location of the missing teeth and the condition of the supporting teeth. With proper care and maintenance, dental bridges can last 10-15 years or longer.

Dentures

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They can replace all teeth (complete dentures) or just some teeth (partial dentures). Modern dentures are comfortable, natural-looking, and can significantly improve your ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Partial dentures not only fill in the spaces created by missing teeth but also prevent other teeth from changing position. Both types can be made from various materials including acrylic, metal, and flexible materials.

The process of getting dentures involves several appointments to ensure a proper fit and natural appearance. We take detailed impressions and measurements to create dentures that fit comfortably and look natural. Adjustments may be needed as your mouth adapts to the new dentures, and we provide ongoing care to ensure they continue to fit properly as your mouth changes over time.

Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are the most advanced and natural-looking solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone to serve as artificial tooth roots, topped with custom-made crowns that look and function like natural teeth.

Implants offer several advantages over other tooth replacement options. They provide the most natural look and feel, preserve jawbone health, and don't require alteration of adjacent healthy teeth. They're also extremely durable and can last a lifetime with proper care. Unlike dentures, implants are fixed in place and won't slip or move when you eat or speak.

The implant process typically involves several phases: placement of the implant, a healing period for osseointegration (when the implant fuses with the bone), and placement of the final restoration. We use advanced technology and techniques to ensure precise placement and optimal results. Implants can replace single teeth, multiple teeth, or support full dentures.

Preventive & Protective Services

Our preventive and protective services focus on safeguarding your oral health and addressing specific conditions that can affect your teeth, gums, and overall well-being. These specialized treatments help prevent damage and maintain optimal oral function.

Night Guards

Night guards are custom-fitted oral appliances worn during sleep to protect your teeth from the damaging effects of bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching). These comfortable, thin plastic devices create a barrier between your upper and lower teeth, preventing wear and damage while reducing jaw muscle tension.

Bruxism can cause a variety of problems including worn tooth enamel, chipped or broken teeth, increased tooth sensitivity, jaw pain, and headaches. Night guards help prevent these issues by absorbing the forces generated during grinding and clenching. They also help reduce muscle tension in the jaw, which can alleviate associated pain and discomfort.

We create custom night guards using impressions of your teeth to ensure a perfect fit and maximum comfort. Unlike over-the-counter options, custom night guards are precisely fitted to your mouth and are more durable and comfortable. Regular checkups ensure your night guard continues to fit properly and remains effective.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Dental sleep medicine offers effective treatment options for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea through custom oral appliances that help keep the airway open during sleep.

Oral appliances for sleep apnea work by repositioning the jaw and tongue to prevent the airway from collapsing during sleep. These devices are custom-made to fit your mouth comfortably and are much less intrusive than CPAP machines. They're particularly effective for patients who have difficulty tolerating CPAP therapy.

Treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation to determine if you're a good candidate for oral appliance therapy. We work closely with your sleep physician to ensure coordinated care. The appliance is custom-fitted and adjusted to provide optimal results, and regular follow-up appointments ensure continued effectiveness.

Snoring Appliances

Snoring appliances are custom-made oral devices that help reduce or eliminate snoring by repositioning the jaw and tongue to keep the airway open during sleep. These comfortable, non-invasive devices are an effective alternative to surgery for many patients who suffer from chronic snoring.

Snoring occurs when the soft tissues in the throat vibrate as air passes through a partially blocked airway. Snoring appliances work by gently moving the lower jaw forward, which helps open the airway and reduce the vibration that causes snoring. They're particularly effective for patients who snore due to jaw position or tongue placement.

We create custom snoring appliances using impressions of your teeth to ensure a comfortable, secure fit. The devices are adjustable to find the optimal position for maximum effectiveness. Regular follow-up appointments help ensure the appliance continues to work effectively and remains comfortable.

Sports Mouthguards

Custom sports mouthguards provide essential protection for athletes of all ages and skill levels. These custom-fitted devices help prevent dental injuries, concussions, and other oral trauma that can occur during sports activities. Unlike generic, over-the-counter mouthguards, custom mouthguards offer superior protection and comfort.

Sports mouthguards work by absorbing and distributing the forces of impact, protecting not only the teeth but also the lips, cheeks, tongue, and jaw. They can help prevent broken teeth, cut lips, and even reduce the risk of concussion by providing a cushion between the upper and lower jaws.

We create custom sports mouthguards using impressions of your teeth to ensure a perfect fit. The custom fit allows for normal breathing and speaking while providing maximum protection. Mouthguards should be replaced regularly, especially for growing children, to ensure continued protection and proper fit.
